Forty years passed. Gone were the sounds of pomp and fanfare, throngs of friends and well-wishers, servants who catered to every whim, and the regality associated with being King Pharaoh’s heir. Those were all distant memories. For instead of leading a great civilization, Moses was leading Jethro’s flock on the backside of the desert near Mount Sinai.

Recently I’ve noticed how merchants are beginning to make room for assorted promotions in preparation for the Christmas Season. This transition has brought to mind the story of Jesus’ birth as recorded in Luke 2:1-20.

The title: The Great Physician has been attributed to our Lord Jesus Christ although there is no Bible passage associating Him with that title verbatim. However, there are many strong correlations between the Lord and His ability to heal miraculously. One is found in Matthew 4:23-25 (NIV), which reads:

“I made a covenant with my eyes not to look with lust at a young woman. For what has God above chosen for us? What is our inheritance from the Almighty on high? Isn’t it calamity for the wicked and misfortune for those who do evil?” (Job 31:1-3 NLT)

When driving, I am surprised by the number of vehicles that follow too close while exceeding the posted speed limit. Unfortunately, some of the vehicles have display religious insignias. I suppose the intent is to witness for the Lord. But their positive witness is negated by their reckless and lawless driving.
